Since I started at NBW and became responsible for other people’s kids on bike rides and for helping these young people know how best to ride, this issue started looking a whole lot simpler. We should all be obeying all traffic laws at all times. And by traffic laws I mean all of them. If we want to change laws then there are mechanisms to do so which we’re aware of–the whole spectrum of methods to get things done in a democracy. I don’t think it’s harmless for grownups (I’m assuming that’s most of us on this list) to break laws even when such an act usually can’t result in injury to anyone but themselves. I think we all of us have an example to set, and I don’t think doing so implies timidity and victimhood.
